Swami Vivekananda, born Narendra Nath Dutt, was an Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, author, religious teacher, and the chief disciple of the Indian mystic Ramakrishna. He was also a major force in contemporary Hindu reform movements and contributed significantly to the concept of nationalism in colonial India.
Vivekananda’s teachings instilled a sense of courage and self-confidence in the youth. His teachings emphasized self-discovery, universal harmony, and service with humility. One of his famous quotes is: “Anything that makes you weak physically, intellectually, and spiritually, reject it as poison.”
Influenced by this great personality, the school was named Swami Vivekananda College. The name continues to inspire us every day to follow his thoughts and ideals.
